I finished reading Sanderson’s Mistborn trilogy in November\December last year, and it was a truly incredible read. If you’re not reading it already, you should be! Alloy of Law is a great follow up to the trilogy, set about 300 years after the events of the original trilogy. The craftsmanship that went into those first books is put on display again in this one.
Alloy of Law follows Wax, a lawkeeper in the Roughs (like the Wild West) as he returns to Elendel, the main city to take up his inheritance of the title of a not-so-major house. Gradually a mystery is revealed as goods are magically stolen from trains and women from high-society are kidnapped. The plot follows Wax as he investigates the crimes and uncovers those behind it. Not to spoil anything, but a greater overarching plot is hinted at towards the end of the book and I can only look forward to the sequels this book is going to lead into.
Alloy of Law was the second book I’ve read on my Kindle. I should have read it much quicker, but exams and work had distracted me from reading. Needless to say, reading on the Kindle has been a pleasant experience – you can make the font the best size for you, and it remembers where you were.
If you haven’t read the Mistborn books, read them. Once you have read the Mistborn books, read this.
My next book is Love Wins by Rob Bell, so I can finally work out what all the fuss is about.
