I’m a big fan of Star Trek, particularly Deep Space 9. Although some people may argue that being set on a space station makes for a boring samey scene, I think that it encourages the episodes to focus on the development of the characters and setting and we see that in the multi-season story arcs that cover the series. It’s also the first ‘Trek to really deal with issues of war and faith, which must exist in the future as no matter how ‘enlightened’ humanity has become, there will be other parts of the galaxy that are still catching up, or maybe do not wish to progress in the same way that we do.
I’ve just watched the episode “Covenant”, the ninth episode of the seventh and final series. In the episode, Kira is captured by a cult that worships the Pah-Wraiths (the devils and demons of the Bajoran Religion). I really liked how the episode explored Kira’s faith and her relationship with the cultists, and it struck me that there’s some really useful clips in this episode if one was ever to have to talk on the subject of cults and Christianity.

I've really got to borrow the DS9 boxes off you at some point.
